9/4/08 Update! The red seats are going in!

9/2/08 Update! Here are two photos from today. One shows the new standing rail and the other shows the seats going in.

Construction is coming along quite well. Check out the photos taken today (8/28/08) below.

As you can see, the expanded press box is coming along nicely. Workers are currently pre-drilling the cement for the seating brackets. Hopefully we will be seeing seats installed by early next week. Also, you may notice in the photos that the new boards and glass have arrived.

Artwork for the upcoming arena renovations

The Stafford Ice Arena is known to the fans as "Cardinal Country." The arena is part of the field house complex and seats 3,500 fans. The Cardinals have been known to draw crowds over 3000 for big games, which is more than many Division I teams.

The ice surface is 185'x85', surrounded by professional height tempered glass and new boards. The arena boast a state of the art sound system. The arena also has two elevated press boxes for television, radio, and newspaper coverage, A modern athletic training facility for the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries is located within the facility.Plattsburgh State University has recently updated their locker room facilities, making the men's locker room one of the best in all of division III hockey. The men's hockey team has brought a lot of joy to its fans for years, and is deserving of only the best equipment and facilities.

In the summer of 2008, the Stafford Arena will receive a major face lift. The entire interior of the rink will be remodeled. The old bleacher seating will be replaced with stadium seating. All new glass, boards, and benches will be installed. The penalty boxes which are currently between the benches, will be relocated to the other side of the ice.

After the upcoming remodel, the Stafford Arena will once again be one of the finest facilities for NCAA Division III ice hockey. The Stafford Arena has been the host of five (3 men, 2 women) NCAA Frozen Four Ice Hockey Championships.
