2008-09 Team Awards
Chester A. Grabowski Award - Joey Wilson (Sr. Forward - Newmarket, Ontario)
The Chester A. Grabowski Award is given annually to the Cardinal player who most typifies Plattsburgh Hockey demonstrating supreme sportsmanship, leadership, hard work, and dedication.
Most Valuable Player - Joey Wilson (Sr. Forward - Newmarket, Ontario)
Wilson lead the team in scoring in 2008-09, scoring 24 goals (team leading) and 17 assists for 41 points (team leading). Wilson also had a team leading 10 power play goals and 4 game winning goals. He was also one of only four Cardinals to play in all 28 of the teams games this past season.
Wilson, who led his team to a second straight SUNYAC Championship received a number of awards during the 08-09 season. The awards include: All-American 2nd Team, All-SUNYAC 1st Team, SUNYAC Defensive Forward of the Year, SUNYAC All-Tournament Team, and was named to the Cardinal Classic All-Tournament Team.
Most Improved Player - Ryan Burke (Sr. Defense - Dearborn, MI)
For the second straight season, Ryan Burke has been voted the most improved by his peers. Burke played 24 games for the Cardinals this season, which was a career high.
Rookie of the Year - Kyle Kudroch (Fr. Forward - Cottam, Ontario)
Kyle Kudroch lead all Cardinal Freshmen in scoring this past season. In 27 games (most among all Freshmen) Kudroch scored 10 goals (2 game winners) and five assists for 15 points. He was also named SUNYAC Rookie of the Week on 3/2/09.
Scholar-Athlete Award - Eric Greene (Sr. Defense - Cedar Knolls, NJ)
Senior defensemen Eric Greene led his team both on the ice and in the classroom this past season. Greene was named the SUNYAC’s Top Defensive Defensemen by the leagues coaches this past season.
